The carrier checks and verifies every shipment using calibrated laser equipment. If the measured chargeable weight is higher than the chargeable weight you provided during booking, you may incur a surcharge.

How are shipping costs calculated?

Shipping costs are determined based on dimensions (LxWxH in cm), weight (in kg), and the destination country. The cost is calculated based on the actual weight (as recorded by the scale) and the volumetric weight.

  • Volumetric weight: This is the weight based on the amount of space your shipment occupies during transport.

  • The higher value between the volumetric weight and the actual weight is used to calculate the shipping rate.

Our system automatically calculates the highest weight (either actual or volumetric) based on the dimensions/weight you specify during booking. It then displays shipping options and costs accordingly. You don’t need to calculate the volumetric weight yourself, as this is done automatically by our system.

Why have you received this surcharge?

The chargeable weight is the highest value between the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Our system uses your specified dimensions/weight to calculate applicable shipping costs.

However, the carrier measures and weighs each shipment using calibrated laser equipment to ensure the provided dimensions/weights are accurate. If discrepancies are found between the dimensions/weights you provided and those measured by the carrier, a surcharge may apply. This is because we are billed based on the carrier’s measurements, and we, in turn, pass on the surcharge to you.

Important to Note:

We calculate shipping costs based on the dimensions and weight you provide during booking. If these match exactly with the carrier’s measurements, you will not receive a surcharge.

If there is a difference between the chargeable weight (as measured by the carrier) and the weight you provided, the cost difference will result in a surcharge. The attached table outlines the chargeable weight you specified and what the carrier measured.
